Daley Steps Down From Chief Of Staff Post

White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley is stepping down. He's held the position for about a year. Jack Lew, the director of the Office of Management and Budget will replace Daley. Melissa Block talks to NPR's Scott Horsley for more.

Saturday night's debate changed nothing. Romney did nothing to hurt himself and his rivals did precious little to damage him either. All I can say is, thank goodness Sunday's debate is early. It should be a fading memory by the time Sunday's wild card games start.

New Hampshire: Land Of Diversity. Really.

The small New England state, which holds its primary on Tuesday, may not be racially diverse. (In fact, it's 93.9 percent white.) But its residents defy stereotypes with their political independence. More voters in the state are registered "undeclared" than Republican or Democrat.

Debate Over Appointees Hinges On One Word: Recess

President Obama bypassed Congress this week in appointing Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and filling vacancies on the National Labor Relations Board. Republicans called the appointments an unconstitutional power grab and said they were made while the Senate was still technically in session.

Why is Mitt Romney, who finished fourth in South Carolina's 2008 Republican presidential primary, now seemingly on course to win the 2012 version of that contest (at least if the latest CNN poll is any indicator)? One word: electability. That argument, which Romney has made the entire campaign, appears to be finally taking hold as his rivals, one after another, have proven to be political Roman candles — quick, bright ascents, then nothing.
